I don't think that Murakami would care at all. I think that's part of the reson he collaborated with Louis Vuitton. His art has become a brand, and now his work with Louis Vuitton incorporates him into their brand. I think it's an interesting comment that he's making about his art work and about consumer culture at the same time.
The act of collaborating with Louis Vuitton to make faux high art, mass produced objects was the subversion. The people who buy the bags are participating in it even if they take the work at face value.
